Why You Should Be a Self Employed Business Person

Why you should prefer to be an entrepreneur than a salaried job?

Most of us completed our schooling without knowing the purpose of that education and we tend to choose engineering, doctor or anything without having an interest in that. Do you have proper knowledge about your field, career, future earnings, work culture? Most of us are not paying attention to what we love to do.

A student passed out from college has 3 options to do:

  • Higher Studies
  • Getting Placed
  • Start a business

People who are interested in learning more will choose higher studies. People having financial problem, people having no goal (currently) towards their life, people who give more importance to money, people having no idea in their life, people who are passionate in working at that particular field will all fall under the second category. People having financial support, people who want to become their own boss will fall under the third category.

If you fall under the first or the third category, congrats. You have an idea about your goals and the next actions to be taken. You are doing what you love.

So, what about the second category of people?

Is everyone happy with their own job? A BIG NO. Then why are we working? Why did we choose that? Why didn’t we quit and start travelling towards our passion? Many reasons are pushing us to stick to that 9-6 job without having no interest in that. The first and foremost thing is financial commitments. Everyone is having our own financial and personal commitments. We need money to run our daily lives. we have so many expenses in our lives.

Some people have to repay their educational loan, housing loan, vehicles loan, credit card EMI and so on. Some people have their personal expenses like outing, dating, fancy dinner, party, mobile bill, internet bill, food and fuel expenses, shopping and so on. Apart from these expenses, we need some money for savings also. If unmarried, then we need to save for our marriage else need to save for our family expenses and children’s future etc..

Whatever the age or the stage we are living, we are in need of money always. So, going behind money has become very normal now (But don’t do this please). Some of us started our job to manage our expenses and for savings. We will be feeling difficult to manage our life because we will have so many expenses and we can’t manage it with our salary. Yeah, some of you might be happy with your salary. Here I am trying to point out the people who are not satisfied with their salary and have no job satisfaction.

After getting married, family life is becoming difficult with budget living. In some cases, women quit their job and started taking care of their children. Because children have become their princess and prince. They need to be taken care of. So, monthly income will get reduced and the family burden will get increased. This will start causing stress in their lives. We couldn’t live our lives peacefully. Even after so many difficulties, will you be happy after some time? Sorry to say this. But the answer is again a BIG NO. You will be in need of money always and you are not doing what you love. So, you will not find peace in either way.

If you want to get both job satisfaction and money, then take the first step towards your new life which is finding your passion. Work on it in your free time. Schedule your 24 hours properly and develop your skills. So many online courses are available in different fields to develop your skills and develop you as a person, as an entrepreneur. Yes, you can become an entrepreneur by developing your skills. If you have any financial issue, my advice is not to quit the job until you are ready to jump to a new career. Once you feel completely comfortable and confident enough, then switch to your new life.

By nature, we all have our entrepreneurship skills. I know that you won’t believe me. Let me explain you. Are you buying things in wholesale markets to save money? This shows your procurement skill. Whatever the price shopkeeper says, will you keep on bargaining and reduce the amount a little bit. This shows your communication and convincing skill which directly maps to sales and marketing skills. Are you planning your finance for the entire month, year and manage expenses based on that. This shows your accounting skills. Are you maintaining a good relationship with your friends, relatives and neighbours? This shows your people handling and operational skills.

Agree with me? So, you have some of the entrepreneurship skills. You just need to realize it and take it to the next level.

You might think business is not secure. A loss might happen anytime. Yeah, that is true. But do you really think your job is secured? As Artificial Intelligence is booming, we don’t know when will a robot or automation will replace your position in the job. Nothing comes with 0% risk. Can we prepare ourself to fight for our passion, fight for our success, fight for our life and fight for our happiness?

Remember the saying “No Pain, No Gain“. If you put efforts for today, you will live your life to the fullest. You will have job satisfaction because you will be doing what you love.

At least start now.  “Now is better than never“.

To motivate yourself, remember these great business people who started their business career after their thirties.

Martha Stewart started living magazine in her mid-thirties

Reid Hoffman founded LinkedIn at the age of 35

Harland David Sanders started KFC at the age of 62

Robert Noyce founded Intel at the age of 41

Charles Ranlett Flint established IBM at the age of 61

Jackma bought his first computer at the age of 33 and co-founded Alibaba without having a background in computing

Feeling motivated? Put your efforts with the utmost energy level and you will succeed in both your life and your career. Congrats and All the Best!!
