Whether it is a simple change to our diet or lifestyle, we all can do with some changes to our daily routines or build a routine if we don’t have. Little changes can go a long way towards a healthy life and our self-care, so let’s start with the most important morning routine

Start a mindful morning routine

Are you the person rolling straight out of the bed to your workplace? If you are, start practising a morning routine before you get into your workplace. This will bring a drastic change in your life and your energy levels.

There is nothing called an ideal morning routine which suits for all. You can design your own morning routine which suits you (not doing anything will come not under a morning routine…. hehe)

I can suggest some things to include in your morning routine. You can decide on what to pick up and in which order.

1. Drink water

Drink at least a glass of water after you wake up. Your body will be craving for water after a good sleep. Help your body start its work by letting some water inside.

Some people prefer lemon water or honey water or just lukewarm water and some might prefer water at room temperature. You can decide on that and make sure that your body is hydrated once you wake up

2. Move your body

Go for a walk or start doing exercise. Help your body parts to move and get that stretch. If you are not stretching your body, then don’t expect it to be fit and healthy

3. Dress up well

Taking a bath or shower after a tiring workout will definitely make you feel refreshed. Don’t start working with your pyjamas and comfortable tees which you wore the previous day.

4. Prepare your To-Do List

Prepare or go through your to-do lists to get to know the tasks which need to be done for that day. It will help you to kick start the day, keeps you motivated and stay productive throughout the day

5. Have a healthy breakfast

Fuel your body by giving something healthy. Instead of feeding fast food items, heal your body with healthy food

Have a relaxing evening routine

As morning routine helps to start the day as productive, an evening routine helps to wind down the day really well and provides you with a better and peaceful sleep to start off the next awesome day

1. Clean your workplace

Clean the place where you worked before you leave from there so that it will be more inviting when you are back to work

2. Spend some quality time

Spend time with your family or friends who are staying with you. If you are living alone, don’t give a second thought on calling your loveable ones and hangout.

Missing someone? Do a video call. Spend some quality time with others or consider this as your “little ME time” Read some books, do meditation…

3. Have a healthy dinner

Have a healthy diner at least before 2 hours of your sleep time and make sure that it is not so heavy

4. Take a bath

Take a bath or a shower to feel very relaxed. Some people feel so refreshed after taking a bath and will not feel sleepy. You have to figure out the shower during night time helps you feel sleepy or keeping you awake.

5. Say good night to blue light from screens before you jump off to bed

Keep your mobile and laptop away at least 30 minutes before your sleep time. Using mobiles before sleep will disrupt the quality of your sleep.

6. Tick off the items in the to-do list

Check off the tasks which are done today and reward yourself for completing them and appreciate the effort you put into it for completing them.

Move the pending tasks to the tomorrow to-do list. This is the perfect way to wind down the day and feeling relaxed and this will help you to feel motivated to wake up for the next day to complete remaining tasks

Daily habits for a healthier lifestyle

Building healthy habits is also important to keep your body stay fit and healthy.

1. Drink a lot of water

Drink at least 8 to 10 glasses of water. Start tracking your water intake. You can track it in your planner if you have space provided for that. Otherwise, you can decide your own water tracker or use an app to track your water intake

2. Take breaks in between

Don’t sit continuously for long hours. Take a break and give a stretch to your body. Take a short walk around your work desk. Get up and fill that water bottle

3. Reduce your screen time

Try to reduce your screen time. Give some rest to the eyes. Get rid of your smartphone addiction

4. Use a Planner

Start using a planner. Start using a notebook as a planner if you don’t have one. Your planner will keep you organized and will act as a personal assistant for you.

Using a Planner will bring a positive change in your life. You can start writing a gratitude journal or morning pages also.

5. Count your Calories

Get to know the calories you need per day and the calories you are having per day. This will help you to gain or lose weight as per your wish.

Have foods which contain protein and reduce the intake of foods which contains carbohydrates.

6. Breathe some fresh air

Fresh air is an instant mood lifter. Working in a dark place without air circulation can affect our mood. Open the windows and door to let some light in and breathe some fresh air

Start including these habits in your daily life and be consistent in following these habits. You will definitely notice a change in your health, energy and productivity level
